No connection- no life. For there to be life there has to be a life source. The Bible tells us that God created all people in His image, complete with a “life to the fullest” design. However, we experienced a major death blow and became “unplugged”, “disconnected” from the “Life-Source”. As a result, left on our own, we are no longer able to experience life as God intended. Of course, it doesn’t keep us from trying, but the footprints of failure along the landscape of human efforts, betrays the futility of the attempt. Such is the way it was, is and forever would be…
However, the book of Ephesians takes us behind the scenes to witness the unseen hand of the Playwright who designs, acts out and executes the salvation story. It’s a grace-filled story that results in life-less, disconnected people getting connected again with the Eternal “Life-Giver” and one another in a community of life and love.
While life is highly valued, the goal of this new life is not life itself. Living life as God designed it, means making much of the “Life-Giver”. Living life as God designed it means that we are now to live, before others, who are still “disconencted”, in such a way that demonstrates “life-works”.
